V Port Ball Valve Meets Stringent Requirements of Flavor Manufacturing Plant

V Series V Port Ball Valve instrumental in improving reactor temperatures

Problem:
A major flavor manufacturing plant was seeking to improve their reactor temperatures without incurring the high cost of typical globe control valves.  Globe control valves have a high initial cost as well as a high maintenance cost, as they often need to be returned to the manufacturer for maintenance which can often result in long periods of reactor shut down and subsequent revenue loss.

Solution:
Assured Automation introduced the V Series V Port ball valve line to the end user. The low initial cost of the V port ball valve package compared to globe valves was very attractive. The ease of maintenance sold the plant engineers on the package. The slotted ball valve seats could easily be replaced and actuators and positioners could be readily removed. Plant maintenance was confident they could easily troubleshoot problems with this valve package, their reactors could be up and running in a matter of minutes, not days.

The maintenance engineer installed the V Series V slotted ball valves and was impressed with the precision control that was achieved. The package was as easy to maintain as any automated ball valve in the plant. They have now standardized on the V Series for their control applications.

V Port Specifications:

V Port Ball Valves
V-Series V-Port Ball Valve

The V Series valve line is designed for control of pressure, temperature, flow and level. Valve body is available in carbon or stainless steel with NPT, Socket Weld, Tri-Clamp and 150# or 300# Flanged end connections. Sizes available are ½” through 8”. Control signal options include 4-20 MA and 3-15 PSI.

V-Port ball valves offer better, more consistent control compared to traditional round ported ball valves. The simple  construction makes Assured Automation’s V-notched valves preferable to common control valves due to its inherent shutoff capability, high flow capacity, ease of use and maintenance, and a rotary stem that makes these control valves perfect for throttling applications. The throttling component of the ball valve is constructed from a solid stainless steel ball, not a seat insert. V Series modulating ball valves are characterized to meet your custom flow requirements.

Assured Automation’s V Series Valves have been used successfully in applications for maintaining flow rates, for controlling pressure and discharge temperatures, maintaining tank levels and regulating heat jacket temperatures.
