R Series 120 VAC Actuator Wiring Instructions

Assured Automation: your source for Manual and Automated Valves & Flow Meters.

This is the R Series Wiring Instructions 120 Volt AC edition.

The R Series 120 VAC actuator is a reversing motor actuator with end of limit travel switches to stop the motor in either direction. A wiring diagram can be found on our website, or if needed, on the inside cover.

Safety First: Make sure all power is off. To access the terminal strip, remove the four screws from the cover and lift off the base. To open or drive the actuator in the counter-clockwise direction, apply power to Terminal One and Terminal Three. The actuator will turn counter-clockwise until it reaches the internal limit switches and shuts off. When counter-clockwise rotation reaches 90 degrees, contact with the internal limit switch is made, and it will throw power to Terminal Five. This will indicate that the valve is in the open position and can be used for control room feedback.

To close or drive the actuator in the clockwise direction, apply power to Terminal One and Terminal Four. The actuator will turn clockwise until it reaches the internal limit switch and shuts off. When clockwise rotation reaches 90 degrees, contact with the internal limit switch is made, and it will throw power to Terminal Six. This will indicate that the valve is in the closed position and can be used for control room feedback.

To engage the manual override, disconnect power, remove the indicator, place a wrench on the stem, press down on the stem to disengage the gears, and slowly turn to the desired position.
